Izmailov was unable to play in the Finals, as he had to take
his final exams at school.
Boris Verlinsky was awarded the Soviet Grandmaster title for
this tournament, though it was later taken away when the title
was abolished in 1931. Botvinnik went on to become the "first"
Soviet Grandmaster in 1935.
