  • The tournament was played at the Hotel Astor in New York in conjunction with the 1942 US Championship, won by Reshevsky and Kashdan, and was held April 10-30.

  • Thanks to John S. Hilbert for providing the start and end dates.

  • This was the first of (to date) three perfect scores in the US Women's Championship, the other two coming in 1944 and 1987.

  • Nancy Roos was born in Germany in 1905, and was a former Belgian and City of Berlin women's champion. She would share the US title with Gresser in 1955. She is sometimes listed as Nanny Roos.

  • Karff took home the Chess Review Trophy for the second time. Once more and she gets to keep it.
