NOTES:
That evening, Maggie found Joe at the Blue Whale drinking
despondently. -- I guess we can assume from this, without additional
explanation, that the Blue Whale is a tavern, though it theoretically
could have been an IRS office, going by the description.
They tried to talk, but the evil shadow of Angelique was
between them; -- And besides, they had nothing much to talk about,
since neither one of them knew who they were or how they fit into the
story. But we can infer a bit. Joe is a boy, I take it. And Maggie
seems to be a girl (judging from the name). They seem to have some
relationship with each other, Maggie has one with Nicholas too, and
Joe's "donated blood" before tonight, but that's about it.
But, filled with her unholy craving for Barnabas, Angelique
rejected Joe, -- Really, as a fellow blood donor, she had the same
unholy craving for Joe that she had for Barnabas. The deciding factor
here was a craving of a much more conventional nature, that was neither
melodramatic, nor Gothic, nor suitable for the kiddies, so we can
forgive Viewmaster for glossing over this one.
...taunting him with the mirrored scene of Maggie in the arms
of Nicholas. Maddened, he seized a letter opener, plunged it into his
chest and fell lifeless to the floor. -- ...and cackled as he did,
shouting "Don't laugh, you're next!!" The bloodied letter opener
went into the freezer and later provided a nice after-dinner treat for
Angelique.
The merciless Angelique thought only of getting rid of the
body. -- Melodramatic, but pretty much true, actually. Angelique
was a real stinker in this scene on TV. It was one of her worst
moments, and she did everything except say "Stop bleeding on my
carpet, you jerk!"
She needed help. "Barnabas!" she whispered, knowing he
must come in spite of himself. -- With the body count around this
place it's frankly surprising that she never bothered putting the bite
on a furniture mover or something. You never know when you might need
their services in the middle of the night.
