Kirk and Cloud loosened the jail bars to escape.

The magic worship word introduced a new spirit of cooperation in Kirk's cell. The Merak put his strength into the effort to break out of the Kohm prison. Kirk, however, forgot a cardinal rule of a bygone era - an Old West proverb: "Never Trust Nobody!"

It was quite clear that the Merak had remembered. He smashed the heavy grillwork atop Kirk's head and laid him out cold! Then, both man and woman disappeared through the hole in the jail's wall.

NOTES:

  • The Viewmaster picture is similar to this, except taken a few feet to the left, and the girl is not in the picture. Just Kirk and Cloud.

  • I always thought it was "DON'T Trust Nobody," not "Never Trust Nobody."

  • Have we mentioned in the last 5 minutes how much this situation is like the Old West? I really think Viewmaster is taking the "Wagon Train To The Stars" concept a bit too far.
